WestFocus Business Creation focusses on the commercialisation of research undertaken by Consortium members. Once identified, suitable research may be given access to the various levels of funding available, according to the business need.

WestFocus offers a number of different business support mechanisms that enable the transfer of knowledge & skills to solve specific business issues. Among them are the Knowledge Transfer Programmes (KTP), the STEP & Cut-iT initiatives, and Work-based learning (WBL) packages.

The Virtual Company (TVC) is a concept first pioneered by BusinessLink Wessex, championed by the late David Nicholas, and now administered by the Enterprise Exchange of Kingston University. 'Virtual' shares in a company are given to TVC in exchange for support, advice and perhaps funding.
