Code of Practice

Employers:
  • All vacancies and work placement opportunities should be submitted via the University Talent Website. www.university-talent.org.uk
  • It is the responsibility of the employer to submit full and accurate data in respect of all vacancies and placements in accordance with the guidelines given on the University Talent website. Assistance is available if required.
  • The employer is responsible for the recruitment of candidates.
  • Any vacancies / work placements submitted via the University Talent website are subject to amendments to comply with current employment legislation. University Talent will inform the employer of any changes necessary within 24 hours.( University Talent hours of business are Monday –Friday 9am -5pm)
  • It is the responsibility of the employer to comply with current Personnel and Employment Law and Health and Safety regulations.
  • Submitting details of a vacancy or work placement onto the University Talent website automatically assumes compliance with University Talent Code of Practice.
  • University Talent does not take any responsibility for the behaviour or conduct of students or graduates recruited.

University Talent:
  • University Talent will respond to your initial enquiry within 24 hours with any amendments necessary.(University Talent hours of business are Monday –Friday 9am -5pm)
  • University Talent will advertise your vacancy on the website within 24 hours of receiving the original or amended vacancy.
  • University Talent will distribute your graduate vacancies to the 7 West Focus Institutions Careers Service when requested .(You may be asked by individual careers services to comply with their codes of practice which are separate to the University Talent code of practice)
  • University Talent will not enter into any terms and conditions of business with the employer or terms and conditions of employment with the student/graduate.
  • University Talent will act as a facilitator of part time and graduate job vacancies but not act as an employment agency and or employment business.
  • University Talent will distribute work placement/project needs to the appropriate contact within each of the West Focus institutions.
  •  University Talent will endeavour to maintain contact between employers and university contacts in order to facilitate the process.
  • University Talent will distribute information on part time jobs and work shadowing opportunities to the Careers Service of the West Focus university nearest to the organisation.

Students and Graduates:

  • University Talent is designed for students and graduates of WF institutions.
  • It is the responsibility of the student/graduate to make sure they have the correct skills, experience and qualifications to apply for vacancies on the University Talent website.
  • It is the responsibility of the student not to exceed the work/study limits recommended by their university (Careers Services can offer advice)
  • It is the responsibility of International students to ensure they do not exceed the 20 hour per week limit as stipulated on their passport entry stamp (Careers Services/Student Services can offer advice).
  • It is the responsibility of the student/graduate to ensure they have the legal right to work in the UK before applying for vacancies on the University Talent website.
  • It is the responsibility of each applicant to conduct themselves at work or on placement that in no way damages the reputation of University Talent or any of the WestFocus universities.
