Enterprising Student Awards

What’s it all about?

KU wants to help current students who have ideas/projects to develop and the determination to do so. We are offering seven awards (one award per Faculty) with a value of up to £1,000 cash, plus in-kind support to help you to bring your ideas/inspirations to fruition.

We are particularly looking for students who have just completed their first year here at Kingston.

Overview of the award scheme

The objective of the award is to help Kingston students to develop their projects as well as play a role of enterprise ambassador for the university in their faculty.

  • Projects may be creative, technical or social with specific, time-limited objectives.
  • The award will provide extensive mentoring and support, cash to spend on developing the project over 12 months period as well as the access to a hot-desk facilities.
  • Each award will be offered on a competitive basis to students with specific project ideas which they wish to develop. One award per Faculty.
  • The awards will enable individuals to develop their projects in our supportive environment while also continuing with the studies.

Award elements:

Cash:

  • Two half-yearly payments of £500.
  • Opportunity to bid for more cash from a total fund of £5,000 to spend on agreed projects.

Professional support and facilities:

  • Mentoring for you and your project from experts at Kingston University and beyond.
  • Support in entering further competitions in order to raise funds, build your networks, and find further support.
  • Access to part-time work through University Talent.
  • Access to hot-desk facilities at the university, facilities for meetings and support with organising venues or events.
